Boating and the Health Benefits You Receive

Just about everybody enjoys being able to spend the day at the beach. There is something that is therapeutic about being so close to the water, being out in nature, and soaking up some sun. The fun is even more intense when a person is able to take their boat out on the water. Many people think that the health benefits from boating come just because they get a break from their daily stress, and they get to relax. However, there are a lot of benefits from boating that most people do not take into consideration.

Even though boating is not a high impact activity, it is a low impact activity that helps you burn calories. And the nice thing is that since a person is having so much fun while they’re burning calories, they don’t realize it. At the same time, some people will add high impact activities to their boating experience. Things like water surfing, tubing, and wake boarding burn a lot of energy. They speed up your metabolism, and they make it a lot easier for you to lose weight.

On an emotional level, boating is curative in that it provides a person with the opportunity to form close bonds with friends and family. It can be a challenge for people to find the time to get together and enjoy each other’s company. It’s not always easy to catch up with friends and just talk. Usually people have a television or some other electronic device in front of their face that minimizes the amount of conversation they can do. However, on a boat, the majority of these extractions do not exist. Families can have quality time together, and the emotional needs of everyone can be addressed.

From the moment you put your boat on the boat lift to put it in the water until the moment you take it out, you are out in the sun. A day in the sun allows your body to soak up vitamin D. Of course, you need to use sunscreen. If you do, you will get the right amount of vitamin D to improve your skin and the rest of your body. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey says that more than half of the US population is vitamin D deficient. However, if a person exposes themselves to the sun at least 15 minutes throughout the day, that deficiency decreases. So as it is clear to see, boating is not only fun, but it is a powerful way to improve your health.
